GoatsNet for income generation and women empowerment

Income Generation Program

About the Program

GoatsNet is an income generation program for women empowerment.

With Rs.15,000/-, a poor woman in rural areas will be supported to purchase a she-goat and construct a cage. The receiver will rear the goat and will return a she-goat from its first offsprings. This she-goat will be given to another poor woman who in her turn will do the same. Every year one more poor woman will be supported with a goat.

Goat rearing is profitable activity in Kerala. Goat meat and milk have additional medicinal content and highly nutritious.

The project targets, in the beginning, 100 woman. The total cost is Rs.15 Lakhs ( Euro 17,045.) including remuneration for a social worker and administrative expenses.

This is a sustaianble program which will be extended to another 100 woman per year with the same investment. From next year, the first woman will earn a minimum of Rs.5,000/- from one goat. The income will be multiplied according to the number of goats she adds year by year.

Individuals and Organizations can become a partner and start with Rs.15,000/- a year for one year or more years.

About the Program

Waste management in coastal villages is one area in which Adhwana is specially interested. We have planned integrated programs and campaigns to intervene in the most fragile areas along the coast.

About the Program

OLSC is an awareness building program for conservation of shore lines in Trivandrum District through regular documentation and popular campaigns.

The goal is to protect marine beaches and thereby the livelihood and life of fishing communities along the coastal belt.
